Your role is (including but not limited to) providing general accounting and operations support to the Finance team.

The Senior Associate will be reviewing accounting and reporting of platform level entities within the tax structure, comprising pan European real estate portfolios of Blackstone managed investment funds and more specifically responsibilities will involve.

Responsibilities

Financial Accounting

  • Understand, review and bookkeeping for external/internal financing and hedging arrangements, transaction specific complexities and liaising with external advisors in relation thereto;
  • Preparation and review of general journal entries;
  • Review of local and group GAAP adjustments while ensuring proper application of internal accounting policies;
  • Review intercompany reconciliations and ensure regular intercompany settlements where applicable;
  • Support periodic group budgeting process. 

Reporting

  • Facilitate monthly, quarterly and annual group reporting;
  • Review annual statutory accounts;
  • Assist with group consolidation process;
  • Liaise with external group and local auditors;
  • US tax reporting support;
  • Prepare ad hoc reports / reconciliations. 

Cash management

  • Approve invoice payments where applicable;
  • Prepare periodic liquidity and cash distribution analysis ensuring timely coverage of structure costs and cash repatriation to investors (cash flow analysis, tax mechanics, local regulatory requirements, etc.);
  • Review external debt financial covenants. 

Portfolio Management

  • Support asset management team with ad hoc financial information / analysis as required;
  • Assist with on-boarding, acquisition and disposition processes;
  • Foster third-party relationships and monitor cash management requirements.

Tax Structuring

  • Liaise with external advisors to ensure compliance of tax structuring for investments and obtain updated opinions where relevant;
  • Ensure that all tax filings are kept up to date for the SPVs;
  • Review periodical VAT returns.

Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure legal and statutory compliance through liaison with the legal & compliance department.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives for all financial reporting processes;
  • Support and coach junior members;
  • Liaison with 3rd party administrators and finance teams across Europe and India.

Qualifications

What You Bring To The Role TBC

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance;
  • At least +5 years’ accounting/finance experience with a major accounting framework (IFRS, LUX/US GAAP);
  • Solid understanding of main real estate and investment management metrics;
  • Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow dynamics, and fluency in general accounting principles and rules;
  • Fluent in English - any other major European languages are an advantage;
  • Ability to thrive in a growth environment, adapt to changing circumstances and work autonomously;
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills;
  • Able to priorities on a daily basis and managing several competing deadlines;
  • Able to take initiatives and to propose solutions and ways to improve processes;
  • An analytical, creative thinker who can focus on the details without losing sight of the big picture;
  • Managerial experience;
  • Accounting certifications preferred (e.g., CPA).
